His father gave him 120 acres on the sounth side of Chickahominy Swamp. Edwards will was dated June 2, 1765, and was probated March 25 1771. (This does not agree with the portion of his father's will that was copied).
3 wives, had 7 children. born 15 miles southeast of Richmond, Henrico, VA; died 15 miles south west of Richmond, Cumberland, VA. Edward had more than one wife, possibly three wives; perhaps some of them may have been: Mary Taylor Pendleton, or a daughter of William Whitloe (Whitly).
No wife was named in Edward Watkins will dated 21 June 1765, probated 25 Mar 1771. [Cumberland Co., VA Will Book 2, pp. 27-28] In the will, he names his: son John, daughter Martha, grandsons Sir John Clay and Edward Clay, son-in-law Francis Mosley, daughter Mary Anderson, daughter Judith Bass, grandsons Edward Watkins and Samuel Watkins, son Edward and son Thomas.
