Notes for Henry II WATKINS | ||||||||||||||||
Henry, his brothers and their families were Quakers, in the "Curles Meeting " in Henrico County, Virginia. Before 1675 he lived in Carina Parish, Turkey Island Precinct, on the James River From the Henrico County Court Records, Book 2, # 161; A petition of Henry Watkins for the remission of fines imposed on him "by this worshipful court is not granted, he not appearing himself to supplicate...as ye court concerns continuing still his Quakerism". His daughter, Elizabeth, was also involved in this, detailed later. Henry owned "Mawbourne Hills" (Malvern Hills), in the County of Henrico, Virginia, where he died in 1691. His will was recorded in Henrico County, under date of Feb. 1, 1691; names sons William, Joseph, Edward, Henry, Jr., and Thomas"...love and affection that he hath unto his living sons, Henry and Thomas Watkins, given, granted and confirmed by these presents, doth give, grant and confirm unto ye said Henry Watkins, Jr., all that tract of land whereon I now live, to him and his heirs forever, without any sale or mortgage,to be made of ye same, or any part thereof, as above said. Also I give unto my said son, Thomas Watkins, one tract of land containing 200 acres, situate upon ye three runs in ye above county and taken up at two surveys on to ye heirs of ye body of ye said Thomas Watkins, forever, but no sale or mortgage to be made of all or any part thereof, as above said, as wit- ness my hand and seal this 25 day of Jan., 1691.
